Week 8 imagining the future

Right now, the world is in need for a clean source of renewable energy. With our population growing, and climate change becoming more of a problem, a clean and renewable energy source could change the world. One proposed idea is Solar roadways. In this video, the creater talkes about the benefit and potential of solar roadways. He argues that this new invention could be extremely beneficial to society, with environmentaly friendly being just being the tip of the ice burg. I personally believe that this invention has extreme upside, while it way be to expensive now, I belive that continuous innovation could push this idea into reality.https://youtu.be/qlTA3rnpgzU

Week 7 #trending

Throughout the day, I have followed the #demdebate2020. Throughout this time where politics can be harsh and cruel; I was pleasantly surprised to see more light hearted memes and jokes about the candidates and election. Of coarse there was a fair share of serious contest, but a majority of the content consisted of light hearted jokes. These jokes while aiming at a specific person or party, they were not mean hearted or cruel in any way. Given the tough political world, I did not expect this, but am delighted to see that the American people can come together through this fierce race.

Week 6 Things I Mean To Know

Throughout my life I have always wanted to know why the sky was blue. I see it every day, but I never got around to actually just looking it up. It is actually quite simple! When sunlight hits the earth, all the colors are spread out throughout the earth’s atmosphere. The reason we see blue the most is because blue travels faster in shorter waves, making us see blue for prevalent. https://spaceplace.nasa.gov/blue-sky/en/

Week 5: Independent Field Trip

This past weekend I took a trip to the art Institute of Chicago. I’m not a very great artist myself, but I find it very interesting what the art world calls masterpieces. Many of the pieces in the museum are very interesting and cool, while others make me sit back and wonder how this is considered art. The image above was one of the pieces I came across, it was simply what looks like to be a stuffed toy snake just on the ground of the museum. It is important to know that the art institute of Chicago holds many significant pieces, and I find it fascinating how pieces like this make the cut. Despite my distaste for seemingly effortless pieces like this, it still fascinates me on how art is always growing and changing.

Week 4: Political Cartoon

Recently, the democratic race has been heating up. Many candidates have ended their campaigns while others have soured into popularity. After Super Tuesday, it became clear who the legitimate candidates for the nomination were. Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden are far ahead anyone else, and are practically the only ones left in the race. This was a surprise, as before the vote of South Carolina, Joe Biden was in a major slum, and his campaign looked to be on the downhill. After a great performance in South Carolina, Joe Biden’s campaign was propelled by the abundance of Endorsements by the nominees who were dropping out. I believe this is the very framework of the political cartoon, as Biden’s campaign was “jump started” by his endorsements. The speaker of the cartoon is Joe Biden, as he looks well and confident after his “jumpstart” in this cartoon. The occasion is the current democratic race, and Joe Biden’s current rise of popularity. The audience is the American people, as they are the ones who have truly propelled his campaign. Finally the purpose is to show the rebound Biden made from just a couple weeks ago, and to show how is new endorsements have helped his now thriving campaign.

Week 3 photo of the week

In this photo the speaker of the house, Nancy Pelosi was ripping up Trump’s State of the Union Address after he had just delivered it. I think this photo Argues the devision in our country. It is crazy to see two people in such power, work so poorly with each other. Pelosi and Trump have historically had a bad relationship and has only escalated now that she is a candidate for the 2020 presidency. Just before this picture was taken trump denied Pelosi of a handshake which also proves the tension between the two. Overall I think this photo truly encapsulated their hatred filled relationship, which may spill over between many Americans.

Week 1 YouTube Video

Recently in the news you may have heard of the rise of professional gaming these pros range from all different ages and places. While many might think this is just a hobby for the lazy, it is actually now a billion dollar industry and growing. As seen in the video “The Glamorous Life of a Professional Gamer” https://youtu.be/35YXuEXDa20 some gamers have built ip quite the career for themselves, racking in loads of money. In this particular video the speaker was the gamers themselves. They were showing and proving to the world that this up and coming sport is no joke. The occasion is the world who is starting to realize the potential of gaming and to see how successful they have already become. The audience is for the people who don’t know about the sophisticated of this sport, and who it had grown to be a powerhouse. The purpose was to prove that their dedication and hard work to the sport was the reason way they are living well. Overall Gaming is here and here to stay which is a great change for many to grasp.
